High strain rate tensile and compressive effects in glassy polymers

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2012
Polymers are increasingly used in impact and complex high rate loading applications. Generally, the mechanical response of glassy polymers under high strain rates has been determined in compression.

Immunosuppressive Drug Use in Limited Systemic Sclerosis: An International Survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Current guidelines recommend immunosuppressive treatment for diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis but are less clear on their use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) in the absence of internal organ complications. We conducted an international survey to understand current immunosuppressive drug prescribing patterns in lcSSc ...

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Collaborative Compressive Detection With Physical Layer Secrecy Constraints

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2017
This paper considers the problem of detecting a high dimensional signal (not necessarily sparse) based on compressed measurements with physical layer secrecy guarantees. First, we propose a collaborative compressive detection (CCD) framework to compensate for the performance loss due to compression with a single sensor.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Dynamic convergent shock compression initiated by return current in high-intensity laser–solid interactions

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
We investigate the dynamics of convergent shock compression in solid cylindrical targets irradiated by an ultrafast relativistic laser pulse. Our particle-in-cell simulations and coupled hydrodynamic simulations reveal that the compression process is ...

Modelling fourth-order hyperelasticity in soft solids using physics informed neural networks without labelled data

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin
Mild traumatic brain injury can result from shear shock wave formation in the brain in the event of a head impact like in contact sports, road traffic accidents, etc.

Advanced numerical studies of the neutralized drift compression of intense ion beam pulses

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2007
Longitudinal bunch compression of intense ion beams for warm dense matter and heavy ion fusion applications occurs by imposing an axial velocity tilt onto an ion beam across the acceleration gap of a linear induction accelerator, and subsequently ...
