Durability of natural fibre epoxy composite structural columns: High cycle compression fatigue and moisture ingress

open access: yesComposites Part C: Open Access, 2020
Many studies have investigated durability effects on the mechanical properties of natural fibre composite laminates using material tests, notably tension coupon tests.

Axial load-displacement response and ductility of sustainable steel-reinforced compression-cast recycled aggregate concrete columns

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
The newly developed compression casting technology effectively addresses the inherent deficiencies of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), such as low strength and poor durability, by removing excess water and air through compression.

Numerical and Experimental Study on End Effect of Waste-Soil Samples under Uniaxial Compression

open access: yesGeofluids, 2022
In order to investigate the influence of end effect on the waste-soil sample strength under uniaxial compression, the influence law of end effect on the uniaxial compression strength is numerically simulated by the FLAC3D software, and the reliability of

On Hierarchical Composite Endpoints in Pediatric Cancer Supportive Care: Illustrative Examples From Two Multi‐Center Phase‐III Randomized Clinical Trials

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric supportive care clinical trials often involve multiple clinically important outcomes, complicating trial interpretation. Hierarchical composite endpoints (HCEs) provide a framework to integrate key outcomes according to clinical importance.

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Prediction of Unconfined Compression Strength for Saline-Alkaline Soils Mixed with Cement and Wheat Straw

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
A series of unconfined compression tests were performed to investigate the influence of wheat straws on the unconfined compression strength for saline-alkaline soils and saline-alkaline soils mixed with cement.

Strain induced dynamic recrystallization nucleation of ZA21 magnesium alloy during compression process at low and medium temperatures

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2020
Dynamic recrystallization (DRX) behavior of ZA21 magnesium alloy during compression process was investigated through uniaxial compression tests at 110 °C and 210 °C with an initial strain rate of 0.01 s−1.

Improvement of mechanical parameters of concrete yielded from pozzolanic cement for irrigation and drainage projects [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering, 2019
Among various active parts of construction industry, irrigation and drainage projects (such as dams, spillways and peripheral parts such as canals) are one of the biggest consumers of cement.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
