Spruce pellets in compression loading [PDF]
Compression loading of sawdust pellets could be useful for studying the mechanical and structural properties of materials. Mechanical properties such as the failure stress and strain, the modulus of elasticity, the bulk modulus, the compressibility and the deformation energy can be used to evaluate the behaviour of pellets under static loading.

Compressive characteristics of metal matrix syntactic foams [PDF]
The compressive behaviour of eight different metal matrix syntactic foams (MMSFs) are investigated and presented. The results showed that the engineering factors as chemical compositions of the matrix material, the size of the microballoons, the ...

Polypropylene foam behaviour under dynamic loadings: Strain rate, density and microstructure effects [PDF]
Expanded polypropylene foams (EPP) can be used to absorb shock energy. The performance of these foams has to be studied as a function of several parameters such as density, microstructure and also the strain rate imposed during dynamic loading.

Core crush criterion to determine the strength of sandwich composite structures subjected to compression after impact [PDF]
In this study a core crush criterion is proposed to determine the residual strength of impacted sandwich structures. The core of the sandwich is made of a Nomex Honeycomb core and the faces are laminated and remain thin.
