Mechanical Properties of the Mineral Cast Material at the Macro and Micro Level. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The paper presents the results of experimental examination of the mechanical properties at micro and macro scale of the mineral cast composites. Studies have been conducted to verify the literature data about the value of tensile strength, compressive ...

Mechanical Behavior and Microstructural Changes Associated with Tensile Deformation above the Martensite Start Temperature during Quenching and Subsequent Partitioning of a Low‐Alloy 37SiB6 Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A new experimental setup, incorporating digital image correlation and infrared thermography in combination with inductive‐conductive heating for precise temperature control, is used to analyze the mechanical behavior and microstructural changes of sheet metal under complex thermomechanical test conditions that represent quench and partitioning ...

Evaluation of splitting tensile and compressive strength relationship of self-compacting concrete

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Engineering Sciences, 2019
Research findings have reported a behavioural relationship between the splitting tensile strength and compressive strength of concretes. This work studied both the experimental and analytical relationships that exist between splitting tensile strength ...

Multimaterial Approach to Improve the Mechanical Properties of a Novel Modified Auxetic Reentrant Honeycomb Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A multimaterial approach is introduced to improve upon auxetic structures by combining two different polymers into the same reentrant honeycomb structure via additive manufacturing. The deformation behavior as well as the resulting Poisson's ratio are thereby improved significantly.

Compressive Strength Properties of Snow [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Glaciology, 1959
AbstractThe compressive strength of snow cylinders was investigated as a function of the age of the snow from which the cylinders were made, the snow particle size and the age of the cylinders. The results show that the compressive strength is reduced if the snow is older, if the particle size is smaller, or if the cylinders are younger.

Low-energy dipole excitation modes in ${}^{10}$Be [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Low-energy dipole excitations in ${}^{10}$Be were investigated based on the generator coordinate method with $\alpha + {}^6$He and $\alpha + \alpha + 2n$ cluster models. We obtained three $1^-$ states in $E_{x} < 15$~MeV, which show different characters in the $E1$, compressive dipole, and toroidal dipole transition strengths.

Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

Roll diffusion bonding of titanium alloy panels [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Roll diffusion bonding technique is used for fabricating T-stiffened panel assemblies from titanium alloy. The single unit fabrication exhibits excellent strength characteristics under tensile and compressive loads.

Investigation of Iron‐Aluminide‐Like Phase Composition in Complex Concentrated Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the phase composition and quantitative morphology analysis of precipitation‐hardened Fe32Cu12Ni11Ti16Al29 complex‐concentrated alloy. The precipitates are shown to have a high coherency. Morphology transition between sphere, cuboidal, and elongated morphology is observed. Finally, the overaging behavior is captured using microhardness.
