The Geometry of the Scroll Compressor
SIAM Review, 2001English summary (from the authors): The scroll compressor is an invention from 1905 that recently has attracted interest in the industry. A large part of the analysis of the compressor can be carried out using the basic theory of planar curves. The concepts of involute, evolute, envelope, and in particular the natural equation are necessary to ...

Reciprocating compressors or screw compressors?

A subclass of generalized parallel counters, called parallel compressors, is introduced Under present-day packaging technology, parallel compressors with their higher compression ratio and fewer input/output pins are more efficient in multiple operand addition and multiplication than parallel counters.

THE USE of an orbital compressor in ocular surgery is not new, for a review of ancient writings reveals that a type of orbital compressor or conformer was used to stop hemorrhages after loss of the eyeball or after the eyeball had been removed surgically.

Radial compressor design for industrial compressors
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 1999Industrial centrifugal compressors have a very large field of applications in chemical, petrochemical and gas transport applications with an enormous variety of gases, pressure levels and suction volumes. This paper describes the special design features of this type of compressor and sheds light on a method of standardization to overcome the large ...

Gas Compressor Service With Turbo Compressors
2004 International Pipeline Conference, Volumes 1, 2, and 3, 2004Gas pipeline projects are capital intensive and normally are developed under scenarios of uncertainty. Such uncertainties vary from closing take-or-pay, ship-or-pay or delivery-or-pay agreements to those uncertainties related to the acquisition of equipments, material and construction and assembling contracts.

The widely used Mark-and-Sweep garbage collector has a drawback in that it does not move objects during collection. As a result, large long-running realistic applications, such as Web application servers, frequently face the fragmentation problem. To eliminate fragmentation, a heap compaction is run periodically.
