Validation of Computational Aeroacoustics Algorithms

1993
In most cases of aerodynamically generated noise there is no back reaction of the radiated noise on the flow. However, in some situations this is not the case. These cases can serve as valuable tests of computational aeroacoustic algorithms and boundary conditions.

A LATTICE BOLTZMANN METHOD FOR COMPUTATION OF AEROACOUSTIC INTERACTION

International Journal of Modern Physics C, 2007
This paper reports a study of the ability of an improved LBM in replicating acoustic interaction. With a BGK model with two relaxation times approximating the collison term, the improved LBM is shown not only able to recover the equation of state, but also replicates the specific heat ratio, the fluid viscosity and thermal conductivity correctly. Recent developments in computational aeroacoustics

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1995
There is renewed interest in predicting aeroacoustic noise, especially for jets, rotating blades, and shock waves. These flows involve nonlinear, three-dimensional, turbulent phenomena, and nonuniform free streams. Simulating these flows requires algorithms quite different than those traditionally used in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Recent advances in computational aeroacoustics

Fluid Dynamics Research, 2006
There are intrinsic differences between the characteristics and the objectives of aeroacoustics problems and typical fluid dynamics problems. These differences are not addressed by computational fluid dynamics (CFD). They form some of the major challenges to computational aeroacoustics (CAA).

A Simple Method for Computing Far-Field Sound in Aeroacoustic Computations

Journal of Computational Physics, 2000
A new simple direct method is proposed to simulate the far-field sound in conjunction with near-field aeroacoustic computations. No acoustic sources need to be computed, and the only necessary input for the flow computation is the density. The computational cost of the proposed method is reasonable.

Computational aeroacoustics of ducts using parallel computers

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1999
This paper will discuss recent attempts at using computational aeroacoustics (CAA) algorithms on parallel computers to solve duct propagation problems. The algorithms are higher-order accurate methods for solving the Euler and Navier–Stokes equations. As computer speed increases, more and more of the physics can be simulated. This talk will discuss the
