Sarcosine oxidase from Bacillus sp. (SoxB) recognizes l‐proline (l‐Pro), d‐proline (d‐Pro), and l‐thioproline (l‐Tpr) as minor substrates. In this study, we measured their absorption spectra, determined the crystal structures of their enzyme complexes, and performed site‐directed mutagenesis of key residues.

Canonical density matrix perturbation theory
Density matrix perturbation theory [Niklasson and Challacombe, Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 193001 (2004)] is generalized to canonical (NVT) free energy ensembles in tight-binding, Hartree-Fock or Kohn-Sham density functional theory. The canonical density matrix

A general model for analysis of linear and hyperbolic enzyme inhibition mechanisms
We developed a general enzyme kinetic model that integrates these six basic inhibition mechanism onto a single one. From this model, we deduced a general enzyme kinetic equation that through modulation of simple parameters, γ (the relative inhibitor affinity for two binding sites) and β (the reactivity of the enzyme–substrate–inhibitor complex), is ...

A novel perturbation based compression complexity measure for networks
Measuring complexity of brain networks in the form of integrated information is a leading approach towards building a fundamental theory of consciousness.

Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

In estimating the two-dimensional (2D) direction-of-arrival (DOA) using a coprime planar array, the main issues are the high complexity of spectral peak search and the limited degree of freedom imposed by the number of sensors.

Genetic Modifiers of Parkinson's Disease: A Case–Control Study
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the associations of LRRK2 p.G2019S, GBA1 p.N409S, polygenic risk scores (PRS), and APOE E4 on PD penetrance, risk, and symptoms. Methods We conducted a US‐based observational case–control study using data from the 23andMe Inc. and Fox Insight Genetic Substudy (FIGS) databases.

Computational Complexity of Simple P Systems [PDF]
We introduce a new class of membrane systems called simple P systems, and study its computational complexity using the classical theory. We start by presenting the knapsack problem and analyzing its space and time complexities.
