Computational fluid mechanics utilizing the variational principle of modeling damping seals [PDF]

open access: yes
A computational fluid dynamics code for application to traditional incompressible flow problems has been developed. The method is actually a slight compressibility approach which takes advantage of the bulk modulus and finite sound speed of all real ...

Low‐Symmetry Weyl Semimetals: A Path to Ideal Topological States

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a theoretical framework for realizing ideal Weyl semimetals, where Weyl nodes are well‐isolated at the Fermi level. The approach is exemplified in the low‐symmetry material Cu2SnSe3, which exhibits tunable topological phases, current‐induced orbital magnetization, and a strong circular photogalvanic effect, making it a promising ...

Experimental study of the flow field in patient specific lower airways [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this study Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is used to visualize and measure airflow in the lower airways. Using Rapid Prototyping Manufacturing (RPM) technology, a hydraulic in vitro model was developed and constructed.

Rapid Diagnostics of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces Using Space‐Time‐Coding Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fast reconfigurable‐intelligent‐surface (RIS) diagnostics method is proposed based on spatio‐temporal modulation with orthogonal codes. Theoretical analysis demonstrates a clear distinction in code channel power between normal and faulty elements. Simulations validate its feasibility under high fault ratios and varying receiving angles.

Winter precipitation predictability in Central Southwest Asia and its representation in seasonal forecast systems

open access: yesnpj Climate and Atmospheric Science
In Central Southwest Asia (CSWA; 22°N to 40°N and 30°E to 70°E), winter (November to February) precipitation contributes up to 70% of the annual mean, but substantial interannual variations exist.
