IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Magazine, 2009
In this article, we have described a computational framework for multiscale simulation of gas flow in subject-specific airway models of the human lung. The framework consists of five major components: accurate extraction of airway geometry from MDCT image data sets, geometrical modeling of airway trees, novel 3-D and 1-D coupled mesh generation, 3-D ...

Computational Fluid Dynamics of Cerebrospinal Fluid

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) plays a critical role in the healthy function of the brain, yet the mechanics of CSF flow remain poorly understood. Computational fluid dynamics is a powerful tool capable of resolving the spatiotemporal evolution of CSF pressures and velocities, but technical and methodological limitations have limited the clinical use of CFD

Quantum Computation of Fluid Dynamics

1999
Presented is a quantum lattice gas for Navier-Stokes fluid dynamics simulation. The quantum lattice-gas transport equation at the microscopic scale is presented as a generalization of the classical lattice-gas transport equation. A special type of quantum computer network is proposed that is suitable for implementing the quantum lattice gas.

Computational Fluid Dynamics

2022
This chapter summarizes the fundamental theory for computational fluid dynamics approaches. The discussion starts by reviewing the Navier–Stokes equations and common discretization methods being used for solving the equations. As the flow in nature is always turbulent, further discussion of the characteristics and the methods to close the equations by ...
