Extrapolation Effects on Coupled Computational Fluid Dynamics/Computational Structural Dynamics Simulations

AIAA Journal, 2003
between them, passing loads from the e ow code to the structural code, and displacements back theother way. Forunsteady problems the sequencing is done within the pseudotime loop used for the e ow solver and removes sequencing errors. The mesh movement for the aerodynamic solver is done using transe nite interpolation of displacements.

Credible Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations

AIAA Journal, 1998
This summary presents the motivation for the Special Section on the credibility of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, its objective, its background and context, its content, and its major conclusions. Verification and validation (V&V) are the processes for establishing the credibility of CFD simulations. Validation assesses whether correct

Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation for Propeller

2017
A Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) method has been employed in conjunction with an overlapping moving grid approach to provide accurate resolution of a five-blade propeller flows under both the design and off-design conditions. It is well known that some off-design propeller flow phenomena are dominated by viscous effects and cannot be accurately

Computational Fluid Dynamics: Computer Simulation

2011
The Physical aspects of any fluid flow are governed by three fundamental principles: Mass is conserved; Newton's second law and Energy is conserved. These fundamental principles can be expressed in terms of mathematical equations, which in their most general form are usually partial differential equations.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulation of Structured Packing

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2013
An electronic representation of Sulzer’s Mellapak N250Y structured packing was generated by subjecting a physical packing element to CT scan. The resulting file was imported into a three-dimensional imaging program and then copied, translated, and rotated to create a stack of three packing elements.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Simulations of Ship Airwake

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2005
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of ship airwakes are discussed in this article. CFD is used to simulate the airwakes of landing helicopter assault (LHA) and landing platform dock-17 (LPD-17) classes of ships. The focus is on capturing the massively separated flow from sharp edges of blunt bodies, while ignoring the viscous effects.

Computational fluid dynamics simulation of a sibilant

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005
It is well known that a sibilant is generated around the anterior teeth and the frontal part of palate. However, there is no study that the sibilant sound source is detected and visualized. Dentists often need to fabricate the prostheses including the anterior teeth and the palate.

Numerical simulation of landfill aeration using computational fluid dynamics

Waste Management, 2014
The present study is an application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to the numerical simulation of landfill aeration systems. Specifically, the CFD algorithms provided by the commercial solver ANSYS Fluent 14.0, combined with an in-house source code developed to modify the main solver, were used.

Computational Fluid Dynamics for Sport Simulation

2009
All over the world sport plays a prominent role in society: as a leisure activity for many, as an ingredient of culture, as a business and as a matter of national prestige in such major events as the World Cup in soccer or the Olympic Games. Hence, it is not surprising that science has entered the realm of sports, and, in particular, that computer ...
