A High Performance Lattice Boltzmann Solver with Applications to Multiphase Flow in Porous Media [PDF]
Multiphase flow is significant to many industrial processes such as the geologic storage of CO2 and oil recovery. Microscale simulation of flow in complex geological formations such as saline aquifers or oilfields is a complex and challenging task.

SIMULATION OF COFFEE DRYING USING COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS [PDF]
<p>Drying is a fundamental step in post-harvest handling of coffee because moisture content at the end of drying affects several important aspects, such as sensory quality, storability, and color. Within this context, the aim of this study is to determine water distribution within the natural coffee fruit during and at the end of the drying ...

Fast‐Responding O2 Gas Sensor Based on Luminescent Europium Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOF‐76)
Luminescent MOF‐76 materials based on Eu(III) and mixed Eu(III)/Y(III) show rapid and reversible changes in emission intensity in response to O2 with very short response times. The effect is based on triplet quenching of the linker ligands that act as photosensitizers. Average emission lifetimes of a few milliseconds turn out to be mostly unaffected by

Glyphosate (GLY) and its primary metabolite, aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), are photodegraded using a poly(vinylidene fluoride) membrane with immobilized titanium dioxide (PVDF‐TiO2) in a continuous flow‐through operation under solar light. At optimized conditions, the PVDF‐TiO2 membrane achieved 95% GLY and 80% AMPA removal with •O2− as the ...

The computational complexity of traditional Lattice-Boltzmann methods for incompressible fluids
It is well-known that in fluid dynamics an alternative to customary direct solution methods (based on the discretization of the fluid fields) is provided by so-called \emph{particle simulation methods}.

Backbone Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Efficient Sacrificial Hydrogen Production
Herein, a ‘single‐component’ organic semiconductor photocatalyst is presented in which a molecular donor is bonded to a polymer acceptor. The resultant material demonstrates exceptional photocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution in aqueous triethylamine with an outstanding external quantum efficiency of 38% at 420 nm.
