On the distribution of class groups of number fields

open access: yes, 2009
We propose a modification of the predictions of the Cohen--Lenstra heuristic for class groups of number fields in the case where roots of unity are present in the base field.

Quadrature formula for computed tomography

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 2010
The authors present a Gaussian quadrature formula for integrals of the form \[ \int_B f(x,y) U_n(x\cos\theta+y\sin\theta)\,dx\,dy \] over the unit disk \(B\) for the Chebyshev polynomials \(U_n\) of second kind. The formula involves \(n\) Radon projections on \(B\), has the maximal degree \(3n+1\) of precision, and is unique by this property. It may be

FGFR Like1 drives esophageal cancer progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and notch signalling: insights from clinical data and next‐generation sequencing analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Clinical analysis reveals significant dysregulation of FGFRL1 in esophageal cancer (EC) patients. RNAi‐coupled next‐generation sequencing (NGS) and in vitro study reveal FGFRL1‐mediated EC progression via EMT, PI3K/Akt, and Notch pathways. Functional assays confirm its role in tumor growth, migration, and invasion.

Evaluation of in vitro toxicity of common phytochemicals included in weight loss supplements using 1H NMR spectroscopy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...

Computational Domain Size Effects on Large-Eddy Simulations of Precipitating Shallow Cumulus Convection

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2023
Idealized large-eddy simulations of shallow convection often utilize horizontally periodic computational domains. The development of precipitation in shallow cumulus convection changes the spatial structure of convection and creates large-scale ...

Checking Interval Properties of Computations

open access: yes, 2015
Model checking is a powerful method widely explored in formal verification. Given a model of a system, e.g., a Kripke structure, and a formula specifying its expected behaviour, one can verify whether the system meets the behaviour by checking the ...

Functional Connectivity Linked to Cognitive Recovery After Minor Stroke

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Patients with minor stroke exhibit slowed processing speed and generalized alterations in functional connectivity involving frontoparietal cortex (FPC). The pattern of connectivity evolves over time. In this study, we examine the relationship of functional connectivity patterns to cognitive performance, to determine ...

Reformulation of the Stochastic Potential Switching Algorithm and a Generalized Fourtuin-Kasteleyn Representation

open access: yes, 2010
A new formulation of the stochastic potential switching algorithm is presented. This reformulation naturally leads us to a generalized Fourtuin-Kasteleyn representation of the partition function Z.

Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

Aerodynamic optimisation of Formula student vehicle using computational fluid dynamics

open access: yesFields, 2018
This work aims to improve the external aerodynamic characteristics of the 2017 University of Huddersfield Formula SAE vehicle. To improve dynamic performance in the SAE events, a multiple-element rear wing was developed, which incorporated adjustable ...
