A block Arnoldi-Chebyshev method for computing the leading eigenpairs of large sparse unsymmetric matrices

open access: yesNumerische Mathematik, 1993
We describe a block version of Arnoldi's method for computing a few eigenvalues with largest or smallest real parts. The method is accelerated via Chebyshev iteration and a procedure is developed to identify the optimal ellipse which encloses the spectrum.

Application of the Double Approximation Method for Constructing Stiffness Matrices of Volumetric Finite Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2023
Introduction. When numerically solving problems of elasticity theory in a three-dimensional formulation by the finite element method, finite elements (FE) in the form of parallelepipeds, prisms and tetrahedra are used.

Phylogenetic Stochastic Mapping without Matrix Exponentiation

open access: yes, 2014
Phylogenetic stochastic mapping is a method for reconstructing the history of trait changes on a phylogenetic tree relating species/organisms carrying the trait. State-of-the-art methods assume that the trait evolves according to a continuous-time Markov

In‐Memory Euclidean Distance Computation in a Stacked Memristor Crossbar for Hardware Self‐Organizing Maps

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stacked memristor crossbar architecture is presented that enables direct in‐memory computation of Euclidean distance through intrinsic current subtraction at a shared middle electrode. By physically encoding weights and squared weights in vertically aligned layers, the system realizes energy‐efficient self‐organizing map learning, demonstrating ...

Meniscus Pixel Printing for Contact‐Lens Vision Sensing and Robotic Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visual‐sensing contact lens is enabled by meniscus pixel printing (MPP), which rapidly patterns a 200 µm perovskite photodetector pixel in 1 s without masks, vacuum processing, or bulky equipment. A deep‐learning‐based super‐resolution reconstructs sparse on‐lens signals into 80 × 80 high‐resolution visual information, while AI‐driven eye‐tracking ...
