Vectorized Monte Carlo methods for reactor lattice analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Some of the new computational methods and equivalent mathematical representations of physics models used in the MCV code, a vectorized continuous-enery Monte Carlo code for use on the CYBER-205 computer are discussed.

Effective Range Expansion for the Interaction Defined on the Lattice

open access: yes, 2009
The relation between the interaction parameters for fermions on the spatial lattice and the two-body $T$ matrix is discussed. The presented method allows determination of the interaction parameters through the relatively simple computational scheme which

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Experimental Analysis and Physics‐Based Analytical Model on Twisted and Coiled Artificial Muscles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted and coiled artificial muscles made from silver‐coated nylon fibers are investigated through experiments and analytical modeling. The actuators achieve contractions up to 19.3% and specific work of 8 kJ kg−1, though efficiency remains limited (≈0.15%) by thermal losses.

Numerical Generation of Trajectories Statistically Consistent with Stochastic Differential Equations

open access: yesEntropy
A weak second-order numerical method for generating trajectories based on stochastic differential equations (SDE) is developed. The proposed approach bypasses direct noise realization by updating the system’s state using independent Gaussian random ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...
