Ligand‐dependent transcriptional heterogeneity in cell cycle gene expression delays G1/S entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
EGF and HRG induce distinct G1/S progression programs in ErbB2‐amplified BT474 breast cancer cells. Despite activating the potent ErbB2–ErbB3 heterodimer, HRG does not accelerate cell‐cycle entry. Instead, EGF promotes earlier restriction‐point passage via ERK–FOS signaling, whereas HRG activates the AKT–MYC axis, driving transcriptional heterogeneity ...

CAREdose 4D Application in Brain CT Scan: The Effect on Dose and Image Quality

open access: yesFrontiers in Biomedical Technologies
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of CAREdose4D on the dose and image quality in Brain Computed Tomography (CT). Materials and Methods: Noise, Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR), and Contrast-to-Noise Ratio (CNR) for Gray Matter (GM ...

An assessment of dose indicators for computed tomography localization procedures in radiation therapy at the University Hospital Rijeka [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 2018
The computed tomography has become a standard tool in radiation therapy treatment planning. Additionally, there is a growing awareness of the dose delivered to the part of the body outside the target volume.

Comparison of Planer Dose Equilibrium and Computed Tomography Dose Index and Implications for Reported Patient Dose Information

open access: yesOpen Journal of Medical Imaging, 2019
Technical developments are ongoing in CT, and there has been a continually increasing trend in patient prescription, resulting in increased exposure. Currently, doses delivered during CT are generally evaluated using computed tomography dose index (CTDI), which is measured with a 10 cm pencil ionization chamber placed in a 14 cm PMMA phantom ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Obesity: new insight into the anthropometric classification of fat distribution shown by computed tomography [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Twenty eight women presenting for routine computed tomography had their waist, hip, and thigh circumferences measured. The ratio of the area of intra-abdominal fat to the area of subcutaneous fat shown in the computed tomogram taken at the umbilical ...

Comparison of Radiation Doses of Computed Tomography Brain and Pulmonary Angiography with International Commission on Radiological Protection Guidelines: A Descriptive Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) is useful for evaluating and diagnosing conditions related to blood vessels, such as aneurysms, stenosis (narrowing of vessels), vascular malformations, and blockages.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Preoperative circulating tumor cells integrated with imaging analysis for prognostic evaluation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Detecting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) in blood before surgery may help predict outcomes in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Here, we show when combined with tumor size and lymph node involvement from routine imaging, CTC status identifies high‐risk patients with poorer survival—offering a simple, minimally invasive tool ...
