Computer-assisted diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease

International Image Processing, Applications and Systems Conference, 2014
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative dementia. It is very difficult to distinguish between healthy and reached subject. But achieving the hippocampus appears before the first clinical signs of the disease, in the mild cognitive impairement (MCI) phase. The hippocampus is a key area to facilitate early diagnosis.

COMPUTER ASSISTED DIAGNOSIS OF THE ACUTE ABDOMEN

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1993
Computer assisted diagnosis (CAD) has been claimed to improve the accuracy of assessment of the acute abdomen. Alternative techniques that may improve decision making are briefly reviewed and CAD is examined critically. The structured collection of complete clinical data with performance feedback, results in improvements comparable to CAD.

Computer-assisted diagnosis of acute azotemia

Computers and Biomedical Research, 1986
We designed a computer program to make diagnostic suggestions in cases of acute azotemia. The performance of the program was tested in a retrospective manner on 63 patients with acute azotemia. The program correctly identified 90 of 94 diagnoses and made 20 false positive diagnostic suggestions.

Computer-assisted diagnosis system in digestive endoscopy

IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine, 2003
The purpose of this paper is to present an intelligent atlas of indexed endoscopic lesions that could be used in computer-assisted diagnosis as reference data. The development of such a system requires a mix of medical and engineering skills for analyzing and reproducing the cognitive processes that underlie the medical decision-making process.

Computer-assisted melanoma diagnosis

Melanoma Research, 2015
In dermatology, attempts at synergy between man and machine have mainly been made to improve melanoma diagnosis. The aim of the present study was to test an 'integrated digital dermoscopy analysis' (i-DDA) system with a series of melanocytic lesions that were benign and malignant in nature, and to evaluate its discriminating power with respect to ...

A serial model for computer assisted medical diagnosis

International Journal of Bio-Medical Computing, 1980
In this paper we discuss a simple model for an interactive consultation system for medical applications. That system was developed to provide consultative advice on diagnosis of arthritis, but it could be easily applied to a different class of diseases.

COMPUTER-ASSISTED INTERPRETATION IN RADIOGRAPHIC DIAGNOSIS

Dental Clinics of North America, 1993
The application of computer-aided procedures to analyze digital radiographs will help to increase the quality of radiographic diagnosis. Image processing is applied to improve image quality and to extract features from digital radiographs. Computer programs can be used to integrate image data and patient data originating from different sources. The aim

Computer-Assisted Diagnosis of Primary Headaches

2008
Headache is not a disease which typically shortens one's life. However, it can be a serious social as well as a health problem. Approximately 27 billion euros per year are lost through reduced work productivity in the European Community. While the diagnostic criteria developed by the International Headache Society (IHS) have been extensively used in ...

COMPUTER-ASSISTED ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC DIAGNOSIS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002
Abstract In this paper we present a method to quantify the cardiac blood irrigation through echographic images for heart disease diagnosis. This method relies on the registration of acquired images with a heart model in order to provide a robust segmentation of the cardiac walls, giving the doctor precise and non subjective anatomical information, as

Computer Assisted Diagnosis

1988
If the basic assumption is that every computer assisted diagnosis system takes signs and symptoms as a basis for reaching tentative diagnoses, the next consideration is how many different diagnoses there are in total. It immediately becomes apparent that first a definition of what is understood by diagnoses must be established.
