An application study of parallel processing to the particle transport simulation
New methods of the neutron and photon transport Monte Carlo simulation suitable for vector computers have been investigated and general purpose multigroup and continuous energy codes have been developed. On vector supercomputers, the codes achieved high

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

A family of permutationally invariant quantum codes [PDF]
We construct a new family of permutationally invariant codes that correct $t$ Pauli errors for any $t\ge 1$. We also show that codes in the new family correct quantum deletion errors as well as spontaneous decay errors.

Exploitation of Stragglers in Coded Computation [PDF]
In cloud computing systems slow processing nodes, often referred to as "stragglers", can significantly extend the computation time. Recent results have shown that error correction coding can be used to reduce the effect of stragglers. In this work we introduce a scheme that, in addition to using error correction to distribute mixed jobs across nodes ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Network coding with computation alignment [PDF]
Determining the capacity of multi-receiver networks with arbitrary message demands is an open problem in the network coding literature. In this paper, we consider a multi-source, multi-receiver symmetric deterministic network model parameterized by channel coefficients (inspired by wireless network flow) in which the receivers compute a sum of the ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
