Computer-generated holograms [PDF]

open access: yesPhotoniques, 2017
Diffractive optical elements (DOEs) have many advantages over conventional ones. For a start, they are generally lighter, take up less room, and have a wider variety of properties. They can also be used to fabricate hybrid elements that modify polarization, compensate for dispersion, and so on.

Weighted Constraint Iterative Algorithm for Phase Hologram Generation

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
A weighted constraint iterative algorithm is presented to calculate phase holograms with quality reconstruction. The image plane is partitioned into two regions where different constraint strategies are implemented during the iteration process.

Binary Computer-Generated Holograms by Simulated-Annealing Binary Search

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
The binary computer-generated hologram (BCGH) has attracted much attention recently because it can address the high-speed binary spatial light modulator (SLM), such as a digital micromirror device (DMD) SLM.

Nonplanar photolithography with computer-generated holograms [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2005
We outline a method for accomplishing photolithography on grossly nonplanar substrates. First we compute an approximation of the diffraction pattern that will produce the desired light-intensity distribution on the substrate to be patterned. This pattern is then digitized and converted into a format suitable for manufacture by a direct-write method ...

Simulating a computer-generated waveguide hologram scattering problem with an artificial 2D Gaussian beam source

open access: yes, 2023
We study a computer-generated waveguide hologram scattering problem. An artificial current density function with Gaussian profile is defined on a source plane that is close to the scatterers.

Compression of Phase-Only Holograms with JPEG Standard and Deep Learning

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
It is a critical issue to reduce the enormous amount of data in the processing, storage and transmission of a hologram in digital format. In photograph compression, the JPEG standard is commonly supported by almost every system and device.

Form-birefringent computer-generated holograms [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 1996
Polarization-selective computer-generated holograms made with form-birefringent nanostructures were designed, fabricated, and evaluated experimentally at 1.5 microm. The fabricated element showed a large polarization contrast ratio (>250:1) and a high diffraction efficiency (>40% for a binary phase level element).

Accurate Hologram Generation Using Layer-Based Method and Iterative Fourier Transform Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
Random phase is always added to the object to diffuse the object light in computer-generated holograms. However, this addition causes considerable speckle noise in the reconstructed image. For improving the speckle noise problem, we propose a new method,

High Resolution Multiview Holographic Display Based on the Holographic Optical Element

open access: yesMicromachines, 2023
Limited by the low space-bandwidth product of the spatial light modulator (SLM), it is difficult to realize multiview holographic three-dimensional (3D) display.

Generation of optical phase singularities by computer-generated holograms [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 1992
Laser beams that contain phase singularities can be generated with computer-generated holograms, which in the simplest case have the form of spiral Fresnel zone plates.
