Computer generated holograms: an historical review

Applied Optics, 1987
Since Gabor's first hologram, the meanings of that term have grown with increased use of the invention. Computers expanded applications further, and this paper surveys the methods and techniques of computer generated holograms.

Adaptive layer-based computer-generated holograms

Optics Letters
We propose a novel, to the best of our knowledge, and fast adaptive layer-based (ALB) method for generating a computer-generated hologram (CGH) with accurate depth information. A complex three-dimensional (3D) object is adaptively divided into layers along the depth direction according to its own non-uniformly distributed depth coordinates, which ...

Computer-generated three-dimensional image holograms

Applied Optics, 1992
A synthetic generation of three-dimensional image holograms is suggested. The complex amplitude in the hologram is calculated by using the spectrum of plane waves. Specifically, three-dimensional images are composed of planar and inclined two-dimensional distributions.
