Sex and Gender in the Computer Graphics Research Literature [PDF]
We survey the treatment of sex and gender in the Computer Graphics research literature from an algorithmic fairness perspective. The established practices on the use of gender and sex in our community are scientifically incorrect and constitute a form of algorithmic bias with potential harmful effects.

Graphical Models for Financial Time Series and Portfolio Selection [PDF]
We examine a variety of graphical models to construct optimal portfolios. Graphical models such as PCA-KMeans, autoencoders, dynamic clustering, and structural learning can capture the time varying patterns in the covariance matrix and allow the creation of an optimal and robust portfolio.

Toward the Ideal Signing Avatar
The paper discusses ongoing research on the effects of a signing avatar's modeling/rendering features on the perception of sign language animation. It reports a recent study that aimed to determine whether a character's visual style has an effect on how ...

CanvasVAE: Learning to Generate Vector Graphic Documents [PDF]
Vector graphic documents present visual elements in a resolution free, compact format and are often seen in creative applications. In this work, we attempt to learn a generative model of vector graphic documents. We define vector graphic documents by a multi-modal set of attributes associated to a canvas and a sequence of visual elements such as shapes,

On graphic lambda calculus and the dual of the graphic beta move [PDF]
This is a short description of graphic lambda calculus, with special emphasis on a duality suggested by the two different appearances of knot diagrams, in lambda calculus and emergent algebra sectors of the graphic lambda calculus respectively. This duality leads to the introduction of the dual of the graphic beta move.

Ice-Flower Systems And Star-graphic Lattices [PDF]
Lattice theory has been believed to resist classical computers and quantum computers. Since there are connections between traditional lattices and graphic lattices, it is meaningful to research graphic lattices. We define the so-called ice-flower systems by our uncolored or colored leaf-splitting and leaf-coinciding operations. These ice-flower systems

A Precise Method for Cloth Configuration Parsing Applied to Single-Arm Flattening
In this paper, we investigate the contribution that visual perception affords to a robotic manipulation task in which a crumpled garment is flattened by eliminating visually detected wrinkles.
