Applications of QSPR and Machine Learning in Molecular Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Quantitative structureproperty relationships (QSPR) and machine learning (ML) are transforming photochemistry by enabling pre‐synthetic screening of photoactive molecules. This review outlines advances in data‐driven discovery of optical materials and functional dyes, identifies effective descriptors and models for photophysical processes, and provides

On‐Chip Sensing with Slow Light Topological Cavities

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A valley photonic crystal slow‐light sensor is demonstrated with up to 1.76‐fold shorter round‐trip path lengths than non‐slow‐light designs. The stronger light‐matter interactions in the slow‐light cavity sensor result in up to threefold higher sensitivity compared to the non‐slow‐light cavity sensor.

Pressure Dependent Integration of White Light Emission in SiQDs@EuZIF‐8 Metal Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A tunable photoluminescent material was developed using encapsulation of silicon quantum dots and europium ions into ZIF‐8 enabling multiple emission centers and pressure‐responsive white light emission. Increasing pressure induces ligand‐metal charge transfer (LMCT) and metal‐metal charge transfer (MMCT) within ZIF‐8 pores, leading to aggregation ...

Single‐Chamber Deposited Multilayered Parylene Films with Enhanced Visibility and Substrate Adhesion for Protective Device Coating

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The multilayered parylene‐C films simultaneously achieve enhanced visibility and improved OLED performance. Visibility is controlled by tuning the dimer‐to‐monomer ratio during deposition, which modulates surface roughness, thickness, and void density.

Smart Theremin Based on Electromagnetic Metasurfaces for Fine Dual‐Hand Perception

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The proposed Meta‐Theremin leverages a frequency‐spatial multiplexing metasurface to enable robust dual‐hand perception by shielding environmental noise and confining EM fields to interaction zones. Its physics‐informed neural network decouples hand‐specific echoes, enhancing accuracy.

Directional Lasing from a 3D Blue Phase Photonic Crystal

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the first directional lasing from millimeter‐scale monocrystalline 3D photonic crystals, specifically Blue Phases (BPs), overcoming prior limitations of random lasing in polycrystals. These 3D soft photonic crystals enable highly directional, circularly polarized, mirrorless lasing via resonant polarization modes, offering the ...
