Interpolant-Based Transition Relation Approximation [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2007
In predicate abstraction, exact image computation is problematic, requiring in the worst case an exponential number of calls to a decision procedure. For this reason, software model checkers typically use a weak approximation of the image.

Development of an Educational Application for Software Engineering Learning

open access: yesComputers, 2021
Software engineering is a complicated subject for computer engineering students since the explained knowledge and necessary competencies are more related to engineering as a general knowledge area than to computer science.

SE and CS Collaboration: Training Students for Engineering Large, Complex Systems

open access: yesJISR Management and Social Sciences & Economics, 2007
Today’s software industry is characterized by fast growth and diversity. To engineer software in such an environment, software engineers are required to work with large teams and handle large complex systems, involving common off-the-shelf components ...

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2001
AbstractIn this talk I want to examine three ideas: First, the traditional relationship between a science, the mathematics it uses, and the engineering for which it is the basis. Second, the role of mathematics in the practice of software engineering, which is sometimes called “formal methods.” And finally, the role of theory in computer science, and ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Barriers Faced by Women in Software Development Projects

open access: yesInformation, 2019
Computer science is a predominantly male field of study. Women face barriers while trying to insert themselves in the study of computer science. Those barriers extend to when women are exposed to the professional area of computer science. Despite decades
