Computational Text Analysis for Social Science: Model Assumptions and Complexity

2011
Across many disciplines, interest is increasing in the use of computational text analysis in the service of social science questions. We survey the spectrum of current methods, which lie on two dimensions: (1) computational and statistical model complexity; and (2) domain assumptions.

Arithmetical complexity of some problems in computer science

1977
We show that the set of all (indices of) Turing machines running in time n2 is a complete π 1 0 set and that the set of all (indices of Turing machines computing characteristic functions of) recursive sets A such that PA ≠ NPA is a complete π 2 0 set.

Games, Complexity and Interaction the Role of Games in Computer Science

2003
There is an ongoing discussion about the question whether in the contemporary Computer Science climate, where objects, agents and interactive computation appear everywhere, our theoretical foundations, based on the Turing Machine paradigm are still adequate, or whether a new models or variants of existing ones should be invented.
