Volume staging for arteriovenous malformation SRS treatment using VMAT

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Volume staging involves dividing the target volume into smaller parts and treating each part separately. In this study, the feasibility of volume‐staged stereotactic radiosurgery (VS‐SRS) on a linear accelerator using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and a frameless patient positioning system is investigated.

Effect of different noise reduction techniques and template matching parameters on markerless tumor tracking using dual‐energy imaging

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To evaluate the impact of various noise reduction algorithms and template matching parameters on the accuracy of markerless tumor tracking (MTT) using dual‐energy (DE) imaging. Methods A Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator was used to acquire a series of alternating 60 and 120 kVp images (over a 180° arc) using fast kV switching, on ...

Evaluation of an EPID in vivo monitoring system using local and external independent audit measurements

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The aim of this work was to evaluate the SunCHECK PerFRACTION, the software for in vivo monitoring using EPID images. Materials/Methods First, the PerFRACTION ability to detect errors was investigated simulating two situations: (1) variation of LINAC output and (2) variation of the phantom thickness.

Non-oblivious Strategy Improvement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We study strategy improvement algorithms for mean-payoff and parity games. We describe a structural property of these games, and we show that these structures can affect the behaviour of strategy improvement. We show how awareness of these structures can be used to accelerate strategy improvement algorithms. We call our algorithms non-oblivious because

Two algorithms to decide Quantifier-free Definability in Finite Algebraic Structures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This work deals with the definability problem by quantifier-free first-order formulas over a finite algebraic structure. We show the problem to be coNP-complete and present two decision algorithms based on a semantical characterization of definable relations as those preserved by isomorphisms of substructures, the second one also providing a formula in

Optimal SNP filtering strategies for pedigree reconstruction: A case study with wild red‐spotted masu salmon population

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
In this article, we tested optimal SNP filtering strategies for accurate parentage assignment and pedigree reconstruction for a wild population of red‐spotted masu salmon, Oncorhynchus masou ishikawae. We found that mid‐point filtering in terms of call rate and minor allele frequency performs well for pedigree reconstruction.

Digital radiography image quality evaluation using various phantoms and software

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of the exposure parameters on image quality (IQ) metrics of phantom images, obtained automatically using software or from visual evaluation. Methods Three commercial phantoms and a homemade phantom constructed according to the instructions given in the IAEA Human Health Series No.
