Conceptual Bases of Use of Free Software in the Professional Training of Pre-Service Teacher of Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science [PDF]

open access: yesEducational Dimension, 2018
The development of education is associated primarily with the use of ICT. A significant experience is already gained in how to use educational computer systems while new forms and methods of learning based on modern information technology are being developed and used.

From Mathematics to Software Engineering: Introducing Category Theory into the Computer Science Curriculum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Category theory, with its increasing role in computer science, has proved useful in the investigation of programming languages and other theoretical aspects of software engineering. As a bridge-building exercise, we introduce the category theory course into the computer science curriculum, the purpose of which includes building a unified framework to ...

Mathematics, Computer Science, Software Engineering

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2001
AbstractIn this talk I want to examine three ideas: First, the traditional relationship between a science, the mathematics it uses, and the engineering for which it is the basis. Second, the role of mathematics in the practice of software engineering, which is sometimes called “formal methods.” And finally, the role of theory in computer science, and ...

Encouraging versatile thinking in algebra using the computer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In this article we formulate and analyse some of the obstacles to understanding the notion of a variable, and the use and meaning of algebraic notation, and report empirical evidence to support the hypothesis that an approach using the computer will be ...

What Level of Mathematical Reasoning can Computer Science Demand of a Software Implementer?

open access: yesElectronic Notes in Theoretical Computer Science, 2005
The article starts out from the observation that software engineering splits in two large activity areas: Software specification with its verification and software implementation with its verification. To find answers to the question in the title the article studies a practical systems software engineering area where theory is better developed than ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.
