Robust quantum computation by simulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1999
Simulation of quantum systems that provide intrinsically fault-tolerant quantum computation is shown to preserve fault tolerance. Errors committed in the course of simulation are eliminated by the natural error-correcting features of the systems simulated. Two examples are explored, toric codes and non-abelian anyons.

Geometric and dosimetric evaluation of a commercial AI auto‐contouring tool on multiple anatomical sites in CT scans

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Current radiotherapy practices rely on manual contouring of CT scans, which is time‐consuming, prone to variability, and requires highly trained experts. There is a need for more efficient and consistent contouring methods. This study evaluated the performance of the Varian Ethos AI auto‐contouring tool to assess its potential integration into

Computer simulation of uniformly heated granular fluids

open access: yes, 2000
Direct Monte Carlo simulations of the Enskog-Boltzmann equation for a spatially uniform system of smooth inelastic spheres are performed. In order to reach a steady state, the particles are assumed to be under the action of an external driving force ...

Toward a human‐centric co‐design methodology for AI detection of differences between planned and delivered dose in radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction Many artificial intelligence (AI) solutions have been proposed to enhance the radiotherapy (RT) workflow, but limited applications have been implemented to date, suggesting an implementation gap. One contributing factor to this gap is a misalignment between AI systems and their users.

COMPUTER SIMULATION AND COMPUTABILITY OF BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
The ability to simulate a biological organism by employing a computer is related to the ability of the computer to calculate the behavior of such a dynamical system, or the "computability" of the system.* However, the two questions of computability and ...

A Parallel Quantum Computer Simulator [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1998
A Quantum Computer is a new type of computer which can efficiently solve complex problems such as prime factorization. A quantum computer threatens the security of public key encryption systems because these systems rely on the fact that prime factorization is computationally difficult. Errors limit the effectiveness of quantum computers.

Quantification and dosimetric impact of intra‐fractional bladder changes during CBCT‐guided online adaptive radiotherapy for pelvic cancer treatments

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study quantitatively evaluates bladder changes and their dosimetric impact during the on‐couch adaptive process on a commercial CBCT‐based online adaptive radiotherapy (CT‐gART) platform. Methods Data from 183 fractions of ten patients receiving online ART for pelvic cancers were analyzed retrospectively.

Large-scale Reservoir Simulations on IBM Blue Gene/Q [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
This paper presents our work on simulation of large-scale reservoir models on IBM Blue Gene/Q and studying the scalability of our parallel reservoir simulators. An in-house black oil simulator has been implemented. It uses MPI for communication and is capable of simulating reservoir models with hundreds of millions of grid cells.
