A Digital Computer for Use in an Operational Flight Trainer

IRE Transactions on Electronic Computers, 1955
The requirements for a digital computer for use in an operational flight trainer are presented with emphasis being placed on the real-time aspects of the problem. The general purpose digital computer is shown to be inadequate for this purpose and a special purpose digital computer is described which meets the requirements.

Teaching Vowel Articulation with the Computer Vowel Trainer Methodology and Results

International Journal of Audiology, 1981
The Computer Vowel Trainer (CVT) uses linear prediction to estimate and display the shape of the speaker's vocal tract during an utterance. The assessment of the CVT was carried out over a period of three years with 14 profoundly deaf children divided into an experimental and a matched control group.

Adaptive hybrid brain-computer interaction: Ask a trainer for assistance!

2014 36th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2014
In applying mental imagery brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) to end users, training is a key part for novice users to get control. In general learning situations, it is an established concept that a trainer assists a trainee to improve his/her aptitude in certain skills.

A micro-computer based trainer for pure-tone audiometry

International Journal of Audiology, 1986
A micro-computer based system to simulate patient performance on pure-tone audiometry has been developed, which in conjunction with a dummy audiometer allows easy development of a student training facility. The system can be easily configured to realistically and comprehensively represent a wide range of hearing losses.

Trainer Opinions of Selected Computer-Based Training Methods

Journal of Education for Business, 2002
Abstract In this study, the author surveyed 138 business professors concerning their opinions of various training methods. The respondents' ratings of computer-based training methods, such as Web-based ones, were lower than the ratings they gave more participative methods, such as internships and live cases.

Automatic assessment of performance in the FLS trainer using computer vision

Surgical Endoscopy, 2023
Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) box trainer is a well-accepted method for training and evaluating laparoscopic skills. It mandates an observer that will measure and evaluate the trainee's performance. Measuring performance in the Peg Transfer task includes time and penalty for dropping pegs. This study aimed to assess whether computer vision

Neural Network Trainer through Computer Networks

2010 24th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Information Networking and Applications, 2010
This paper introduces a neural network training tool through computer networks. The following algorithms, such as neuron by neuron (NBN) [1][2], error back propagation (EBP), Levenberg Marquardt (LM) and its improved versions are implemented in two different computing methods, traditional forward-backward computation and newly developed forward-only ...
