Semantic-based indexing of fetal anatomies from 3-D ultrasound data using global/semi-local context and sequential sampling

open access: yes, 2008
Extent: 8p.The use of 3-D ultrasound data has several advantages over 2-D ultrasound for fetal biometric measurements, such as considerable decrease in the examination time, possibility of post-exam data processing by experts and the ability to produce 2-

Incorporating Crowdsourced Annotator Distributions into Ensemble Modeling to Improve Classification Trustworthiness for Ancient Greek Papyri [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Data Mining and Digital Humanities
Performing classification on noisy, crowdsourced image datasets can prove challenging even for the best neural networks. Two issues which complicate the problem on such datasets are class imbalance and ground-truth uncertainty in labeling. The AL-ALL and

Atomized Oxidative Polymerization as a 3D Printing Platform for Binder‐Free, Bulk Conductive Polymer Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Co‐delivery of electrosprayed EDOT and oxidant enables bulk oxidative polymerization during layer‐by‐layer fabrication, creating stable, highly conductive 3D PEDOT structures. This Atomized Oxidative Polymerization (AOP) overcomes the surface deposition‐only and matrix‐limited conductivity of conventional Vapor Phase Polymerization (VPP) and PEDOT:PSS ...

The distinctiveness, detectability, and robustness of local image features

open access: yes, 2005
We introduce a new method that characterizes typical local image features (e.g., SIFT, phase feature) in terms of their distinctiveness, detectability, and robustness to image deformations.

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

The VQA-Machine: Learning How to Use Existing Vision Algorithms to Answer New Questions

open access: yes, 2017
One of the most intriguing features of the Visual Question Answering (VQA) challenge is the unpredictability of the questions. Extracting the information required to answer them demands a variety of image operations from detection and counting, to ...

Modular Control of PEG‐Poly(2‐Oxazoline) Co‐Assembly Enables Tunable Aggregate Properties for Intraocular Pressure Management

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive poly(2‐oxazoline)‐based injectable formulation is developed to modulate intraocular pressure (IOP) in both normal and hypotonic eyes. By adjusting the PEG content, the aggregation behavior is finely tuned, enabling IOP elevation without long‐term deposition.

Top-down segmentation of non-rigid visual objects using derivative-based search on sparse manifolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The solution for the top-down segmentation of non rigid visual objects using machine learning techniques is generally regarded as too complex to be solved in its full generality given the large dimensionality of the search space of the explicit ...

Gellan Gum Fluid Gel System for Controlled‐Delivery of Cytokine‐Licensed MSC‐EVs to Enhance Corneal Repair in Limbal Stem Cell Deficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gellan gum fluid gel (FG) enables controlled ocular delivery of mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC)‐derived extracellular vesicles (EV). Its shear‐thinning, solid‐liquid‐solid rheology ensures prolonged ocular retention. Sustained MSC‐EV release (∼18% in 6 hrs) supports effective EV ocular delivery.
