Finding the optimal design of a passive microfluidic mixer. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The ability to thoroughly mix two fluids is a fundamental need in microfluidics. While a variety of different microfluidic mixers have been designed by researchers, it remains unknown which (if any) of these mixers are optimal (that is, which designs ...

Directional Flow of Confined Polaritons in CrSBr

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CrSBr, a layered magnetic semiconductor, naturally channels self‐hybridized excitonpolaritons into highly directional flow. Its intrinsic optical anisotropy, high refractive index, and strong lightmatter coupling enable long‐range guided modes along the a‐axis, with propagation lengths set by their excitonphoton admixture.

Intelligent Acousto‐Electrical Metamaterials (IAM) for Sound Source Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Our proposed metamaterial concept enables sound source detection using a single material, in contrast to conventional arrays that require dozens or even hundreds of transducers. We show that the coupled acoustic–vibrational–electrical responses in piezoelectric metamaterials give rise to topology‐governed charge transport, producing distinct voltage ...

Simulating Organogenesis in COMSOL: Tissue Mechanics

open access: yes, 2017
During growth, tissue expands and deforms. Given its elastic properties, stresses emerge in an expanding and deforming tissue. Cell rearrangements can dissipate these stresses and numerous experiments confirm the viscoelastic properties of tissues [1]-[4]

Science‐Towards‐Technology Breakthrough in CO2 Electroreduction: Multiphysics, Multiscale, and Artificial Intelligence Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical CO2RR is a key technology for converting CO2 into chemicals, but there remains a gap between “laboratory science” and “engineering practice” in current research. This review establishes a multi‐scale research framework, encompassing atomic‐level characterization, microenvironment regulation, external field‐assisted optimization, and AI ...
