Concatenated fountain codes

2009 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2009
This paper investigates fountain communication over discrete-time memoryless channels. Fountain error exponent achievable by linear complexity concatenated fountain codes is derived.

On decoding concatenated codes

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1990
The correcting properties of concatenated codes with parallel decoding over an additive channel are investigated. The ith inner decoder's output is a codeword if the Euclidean distance between the received vector and some codeword is less than Delta /sub i/ and an erasure otherwise. The outer decoders correct errors and erasures.

Concatenated space-time coding

12th IEEE International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications. PIMRC 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8598), 2002
The serial concatenation of standard convolutional codes with differential space-time modulation is considered for fast flat fading multiple antenna channels. Decoding is performed iteratively by passing symbol-wise a-posteriori probability information between the decoders of the inner space-time code and the outer convolutional code.

A concatenated coding system with 3 codes [PDF]

open access: possibleProceedings of 1994 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2002
A concatenated coding scheme with 3 codes is studied. A product code is used for the outer code, and the super channel including the inner code with Viterbi decoding is supposed bursty. An array decoding procedure for the outer code that incorporates error detection and erasure decoding is presented, and the performance evaluated is favorably compared ...

Code-Based Cryptosystems Using Generalized Concatenated Codes

arXiv.org, 2015
The security of public-key cryptosystems is mostly based on number theoretic problems like factorization and the discrete logarithm. There exists an algorithm which solves these problems in polynomial time using a quantum computer.

An Improved Belief Propagation Decoding of Concatenated Polar Codes With Bit Mapping

IEEE Communications Letters, 2018
Bit-channels of finite-length polar codes are not fully polarized, and the negative influences from semi-polarized channels are not negligible. In this letter, we consider the concatenated system of an inner polar code and an outer low-density parity ...

On the Concatenated Structure of a Linear Code

Applicable Algebra in Engineering, Communication and Computing, 1998
Let \(F_q\) be a finite field with \(q\) elements and denote by \(C(n,k,d)\) a linear code of length \(n\) over \(F_q\) of dimension \(k\) and minimum distance \(d\). Define \(B(n_B,k_B,d_B)\) over \(F_q\) to be an inner code, \(E(n_E,k_E,d_E)\) over \(F_{q^{k_B}}\) to be an outer code and \({\mathcal C}\) to be the concatenateed code, obtained by ...

On generalised concatenated codes

1997
The Authors investigate a novel application of generalised concatenated coding theory to the E.S.A. Coding standard. The proposed coding and decoding system is compared to the E.S.A. coding standard, with both systems having the same coding rate. A number of RS codes are used in the system, each capable of correcting a different number of errors.

Concatenated convolutional codes with interleavers

IEEE Communications Magazine, 2003
This article presents a tutorial overview of the class of concatenated convolutional codes with interleavers, also known as turbo-like codes. They are powerful codes, formed by a number of encoders connected through interleavers, endowed by a decoding algorithm that splits the decoding burden into separate decoding of each individual code.

Concatenated codes using coded modulation with a phase shift

2012 18th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC), 2012
A new coded modulation with a phase shift is proposed. The parity bits decide how to shift the signal constellation point of information bits in the transmitter. In the receiver, the phase shift detector estimates how much the constellation points are shifted and then recovers the parity bit.
