Feature from recent image foundation models (DINOv2) are useful for vision tasks (segmentation, object localization) with little or no human input. Once upsampled, they can be used for weakly supervised micrograph segmentation, achieving strong results when compared to classical features (blurs, edge detection) across a range of material systems.

Undetected error probability and throughput analysis of a concatenated coding scheme [PDF]
The performance of a proposed concatenated coding scheme for error control on a NASA telecommand system is analyzed. In this scheme, the inner code is a distance-4 Hamming code used for both error correction and error detection.

Even the quantum simulation of an apparently simple molecule such as Fe2S2 requires a considerable number of qubits of the order of 106, while more complex molecules such as alanine (C3H7NO2) require about a hundred times more.

Slip‐Adaptive Neural Control of Gecko‐Inspired Adhesive Robots
This study introduces a neural adhesion controller to improve the stability of gecko‐inspired climbing robots. By integrating an echo state network and a multilayer perceptron, the system utilizes joint torque feedback to accurately estimate adhesion in both normal and shear directions and predict slips. This enables effective recovery from slip events,

ABSTRACT Preliminary geophysical investigations are a cost‐effective and efficient way to screen archaeological sites and locate buried structures. Ground‐penetrating radar (GPR) is one of the most widely used methods for archaeological prospection, but in some sites, it cannot be employed effectively due to the presence of clay or other electrically ...
