Improving the Tradeoff Between Error Correction and Detection of Concatenated Polar Codes

open access: closedIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2021
Concatenated polar codes under successive cancellation list (SCL) decoding have excellent error-correction performance. However, their expected error-detection capability becomes degraded, when we increase the list size of the SCL decoder in order to improve their error-correction performance. In this paper, we propose a configuration design scheme for

Concatenated error correction coding for high-order PRML channels

open access: closedIEEE GLOBECOM 1998 (Cat. NO. 98CH36250), 2002
A modified E/sup 2/PRML (ME/sup 2/PRML) channel is optimized for high-density magnetic recording in order to reduce long error-propagation events in an ML detector. A cyclic redundancy-check error-correction code (CRCC), an innerblock ECC concatenated to the ML detector, is introduced as a new ECC-coding scheme for the high-order partial response ...

Burst Error Correction for Convolutional Code Concatenated with Hamming code with a block interleaver

open access: closed2020 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Information and Communication (ICAIIC), 2020
We consider a concatenated coding scheme which consists of the tail-biting convolutional code as an inner code and the hamming code as an outer code. They are separated by a block interleaver. The size of the row of the block interleaver is fixed to the length of the codeword of the hamming code. We select the interleaving depth, the size of the column

Concatenated Error Correction Code Implementation on FPGA

open access: closed2019 Systems of Signal Synchronization, Generating and Processing in Telecommunications (SYNCHROINFO), 2019
The requirements of highly reliable data transmission over interference and noisy channels are imposed on modern radio communication systems. In this connection, forward error correction has become an indispensable step in the digital processing of information data during transmission.

Iterative decoding for concatenated error correction coding in PRML channel systems

open access: closedSeamless Interconnection for Universal Services. Global Telecommunications Conference. GLOBECOM'99. (Cat. No.99CH37042), 2003
A new iterative decoding scheme was developed for the cyclic redundancy check error correction code (CRCC), a concatenated error correction coding system. This simple iterative decoder achieves efficient cooperation between an outer Reed-Solomon error correction code (RS-ECC) decodes and a PRML trellis-detector.

Forward error correction concatenated code in DWDM systems

open access: closedFrontiers of Optoelectronics in China, 2008
The three concatenated coding schemes of the inner-outer type, the parallel type and the consecutive type to improve the current forward error correction (FEC) coding technologies are proposed for dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) systems, after introducing the development trend of DWDM optical communication systems.

Concatenated code constructions for error correction in non-volatile memories

open access: closed2012 International Symposium on Signals, Systems, and Electronics (ISSSE), 2012
This work investigates and compares different coding techniques for error correction in multilevel NAND flash memories. In particular, we consider strong error correction codes with an overall code rate of 0.8 and with a sector size of 1 kbyte. Two concatenated code constructions are compared to the state-of-the-art Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH ...

Application of erasure error correction to concatenated partial-response channel code

open access: closed1999 IEEE International Conference on Communications (Cat. No. 99CH36311), 2003
Erasure error correction based on List-SOVA has been applied to partial-response channel code for high-density magnetic recording. Soft-output information extracted from modified EEPR4ML is used. To achieve as high a total coding rate as possible, a 16/17MTR(3;11) code and a rate 544/561 cyclic redundancy check code (CRCC) are combined.

The Influence of a Particular Error Pattern on the Error Correction Performance of RS+Convolutional Concatenated Code [PDF]

open access: closed2017 International Conference on Computer Systems, Electronics and Control (ICCSEC), 2017
Our paper introduces a typical concatenated code, analyzes its performance about the error correcting capability and possible vulnerability. Moreover, an error pattern is proposed based on its coding structure. We also made a simulation to compare the influence to the decoding performance of concatenated code between the proposed error pattern and the ...
