The evolution of monogamy and concealed ovulation in humans
Journal of Social and Biological Systems, 1979Abstract Homo sapiens is unique among primates in that it is the only group-living species in which monogamy is the major mating system and the only species in which females do not reveal their ovulation by estrus. These unique traits can be explained in terms of natural selective and cultural selective theory applied at the level of the individual.
