The focus of this chapter is the production of power and the use of the heat produced from concentrated solar thermal power (CSP) systems. The chapter starts with the general theoretical principles of concentrating systems including the description of the concentration ratio, the energy and mass balance.

After photovoltaics (PV), concentrating solar power (CSP) is at present the major technology for producing solar electricity. Generally, CSP uses concentrating high-reflective mirrors to generate high-temperature thermal energy that is fed into conventional steam or gas turbines for the production of utility-scale power.

Solar Power Sources: PV, Concentrated PV, and Concentrated Solar Power
2017Solar power is highly abundant, relatively reliable, and not limited to a geographic region, making it one of the most important renewable energy sources. Catering for a clean and green energy system, solar energy will be an active player in the future mixed power grid that is also undergoing a significant change.

This chapter introduces the concentrating solar power (CSP), defined as power generated in the CSP systems that uses solar concentrators to convert solar energy into heat and then the produced heat is converted into power using heat engine based on Rankine, Brayton, and Stirling cycles. This chapter presents the main solar concentrator technologies and

In the drive towards providing massive levels of electrical power through the agency of solar ray gathering, concentrated solar power (CSP) techniques offer potentially the most efficient, cost-effective solutions. These techniques are largely based on solar reflectors of one form or another, and several geometries are examined in this chapter.

Multiscale Concentrated Solar Power
2020This chapter highlights the multiscale concentrated solar power thrust, which focused on developing new low-cost manufacturable technologies for both high- and moderate-temperature thermal cycles. In the high-temperature range, the focus was on the supercritical carbon dioxide (s-CO2) Brayton cycle.

Fresnel Solar Power using molten salt Concentrated Solar Power
2013 International Conference on Green Computing, Communication and Conservation of Energy (ICGCE), 2013This paper evolves a prototype to provide electricity from solar energy for 24 hours. Solar heat can be stored as molten salt and used day and night to generate electricity. Our project is based on Concentrated Solar Power where we use linear Fresnel lenses to concentrate a large area of sunlight onto a small area.
