Performance of a 50MW concentrating solar power plant

open access: yes, 2010
The following document is the written memory of an engineering final thesis. The aim of this project is to study and simulate the viability of introducing a 50 MW solar power plant in the locality of Barletta, Italy. The thesis is divided in two main parts: The first theoretical one which talks about solar energy and explains the two main processes ...

Resolving Nanoscale Heterogeneities in Lead Halide Perovskites Through Low‐Dose Concurrent 4D‐STEM‐EDX Mapping

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Mixed‐cation lead mixed‐halide perovskites suffer from structural instabilities linked to nanoscale heterogeneity. To probe this non‐destructively, a low‐dose, concurrent 4D‐STEM and EDX methodology has been developed. Examining a (FA0.83Cs0.17)Pb(I0.8Br0.2)3 film revealed a complex mosaic of coexisting crystal structures. Crucially, local deficiencies

Dispatch Optimizer For Concentrated Solar Power Plants

open access: yes, 2019
Concentrating solar power (CSP) plant is a promising technology that exploits direct normal irradiation (DNI) from the sun to be converted into thermal energy in the solar field. One of the advantages of CSP technology is the possibility to store thermal energy in thermal energy storage (TES) for later production of electricity.

Polymeric Sorbents as Energy‐Efficient Alternative to Cryogenic Distillation for Light Hydrocarbon Purification

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The transition from cryogenic distillation to polymeric sorbents for light hydrocarbon purification is crucial for energy and environmental sustainability. The polymeric sorbents are engineered to separate gas mixtures based on their specific properties.

Engineering the Assembly Freedom of Donor–Acceptor Type Self‐Assembled Monolayers Toward Efficient and Stable Flexible Perovskite Photovoltaics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Assembly freedom engineering breaks the vertical alignment constraint of donor–acceptor self‐assembled monolayers, tuning their assembly freedom to achieve quasi‐random molecular orientation. This strategy simultaneously boosts interfacial charge transport and mechanical robustness, enabling high‐efficiency and mechanically stable flexible perovskite ...

Flux Density Measurement on Large-Scale Receivers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Commercial solar tower plants have much larger aperture surfaces than the receiver prototypes tested in earlier R&D projects. Existing methods to measure the solar flux density in the receiver aperture face new challenges regarding the receiver size ...
