Decoupling Light Absorption From Photocatalytic Reactivity in TiO2 via Defect and Interfacial Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid photoprotective material integrates N‐doped TiO2 with a metal‐phenolic network (MPN) to achieve broad‐spectrum attenuation and robust reactive oxygen species (ROS) suppression. Nitrogen doping extends attenuation into the UVA/high energy visible light (HEV) regions and facilitates fast charge recombination to inhibit ROS formation.

Mimicking Silent Synapse Recruitment: A SiOx/Cu‐Pancake Memristive Device For Analog Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroforming‐free TiN/SiOx/Cu/SiOx/TiN memristive devices exploit pancake‐like Cu nanoparticles embedded in a SiOx double layer to create a heterogeneous Schottky‐barrier landscape. Under bias, oxygen‐vacancy redistribution progressively lowers local barriers and recruits initially inactive Cu‐PC pathways into a parallel conduction ensemble, enabling

Geophysical and industrial requirements of large scale rollout of concentrating solar power (CSP) in South Africa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Includes abstract.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 147-159).This study investigates the requirements and implications if South Africa were to evolve its electricity supply structure to a large emphasis on Concentrated Solar Power (CSP).

Start-up performance of parabolic trough concentrating solar power plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Concentrating solar power plants, even though they can be integrated with thermal energy storage, are still subjected to cyclic start-up and shut-downs.

Towards the Chilean solar thermal potential knowledge for solar power tower plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Art. 170008, 11 S.The present paper presents a very simple energy yield model fitted using the annual DNI and the latitude as main inputs, considering a solar tower CSP plant, with 100 MW of net energy output and 6 hours of thermal storage.

Concept and status of Concentrating Solar Power systems

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
Development of Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) systems has started about 40 years ago. A first commercial implementation was performed between 1985 and 1991 in California. However, a drop in gas prices caused a longer period without further deployment. It

Advancements in Hypersaline Wastewater Treatment: The Promise of Quasi‐Liquid Surfaces to Reduce Salt Scaling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Durable quasi‐liquid polymer brush surfaces provide an anti‐scaling strategy for hypersaline brine evaporation and zero‐liquid‐discharge desalination. The smooth, liquid‐like QLS interface suppresses substrate‐side salt nucleation, promotes compact crystallization and dewetting, reduces crystal–surface contact area, and enables low‐adhesion salt ...

Review of Molten-Salt Thermocline Tank Modeling for Solar Thermal Energy Storage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Molten-salt thermocline tanks are a low-cost option for thermal energy storage in concentrating solar power systems. A review of previous experimental and numerical thermocline tank studies is performed to identify key issues associated with tank design ...

Thermal energy storage for CSP (Concentrating Solar Power)

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The major advantage of concentrating solar power before photovoltaic is the possibility to store thermal energy at large scale allowing dispatchability.
