Picturing the perpetrator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
There is considerable potential in examining images associated with atrocity that do not depict the actual act of violence or the victim itself, but rather depict the circumstances around which such acts occurred.

Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

IGFBP5 Restores Endometrial Receptivity and Rescues Implantation Failure in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Impaired endometrial receptivity contributes to the poor pregnancy outcomes in women with PCOS. The authors found that decreased endometrial IL‐22 levels and disrupted STAT3‐IGFBP5 signaling pathway contributed to impaired endometrial receptivity. Supplementation with IL‐22 or IGFBP5 exerts a protective effect on implantation failure in PCOS‐like mice,

"Our steam locomotive, fly ahead...": the post-apocalyptic "machinery" of the linear social hierarchy in the film "Snowpiercer"/ «Наш паровоз, вперед лети...»: постапокалиптическая «машинерия» линейной социальной иерархии в фильме «Сквозь снег»

open access: yesИндустрии впечатлений: Технологии социокультурных исследований
The article analyzes the artistic model of director Bong Joon-ho, presented in the film "Snowpiercer" (2013). The film in the spirit of a classic post-apocalypse tells the story of the fate of humanity, which barely survived as a result of ill-considered

PVNCRF Neurons Regulate Migraine‐Like Allodynia by Activating CRFR2 on Spinal Trigeminal Caudalis Glutamatergic Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paraventricular CRF neurons in the hypothalamus project to glutamatergic neurons of the spinal trigeminal caudal nucleus, enhancing neuronal activation and CRFR2 signaling. This pathway increases CRF release and excitatory drive, promoting central sensitization and migraine‐related behaviors. Targeting the PVN–SP5C circuit provides a potential strategy

T Cell Exhaustion in Cancer Immunotherapy: Heterogeneity, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
T cell exhaustion limits immunotherapy efficacy. This article delineates its progression from stem‐like to terminally exhausted states, governed by persistent antigen, transcription factors, epigenetics, and metabolism. It maps the exhaustion landscape in the TME and proposes integrated reversal strategies, providing a translational roadmap to overcome

OMEGA-3 SUPPLEMENTATION ATTENUATES THE PRODUCTION OF C-REACTIVE PROTEIN IN MILITARY PERSONNEL DURING 5 DAYS OF INTENSE PHYSICAL STRESS AND NUTRITIONAL RESTRICTION

open access: yesBiology of Sport, 2012
The effects of omega-3 (n-3) polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) supplementation on the serum concentration of C-reactive protein (CRP) and activity of creatine kinase (CK) were investigated in military personnel. The concentrations of CRP and CK were used

Endogenous Ceramide 24:1 Constrains Th17‐Driven Neutrophilic Inflammation by Antagonizing EP2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cer24:1 levels are reduced in neutrophilic asthma and inversely correlate with disease severity and airway neutrophilia. Restoring Cer24:1 suppresses pathogenic Th17 differentiation by engaging EP2 on CD4+ T cells, thereby dampening the JAK2–STAT3–RORγt axis and reducing IL‐17 production.
