E-Index for measuring concentration
International Advances in Economic Research, 2002The goal of measuring the existing concentration of an economic magnitude among the elements in which it is distributed has been over the past years one of the major worries in the economic statistics arena. Among all the concentration indexes, the Gini index has been applied to a greater extent.

Refractive index of concentrated colloidal dispersions
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 2, 1981This paper describes the measurement and theoretical interpretation of the refractive index, n′, of a range of disordered aqueous colloidal dispersions. Concentrations up to 50% by volume and particle sizes in the range 0.1–1.5 µm were used. All dispersions were highly turbid and required special refractometric methods.

Refractive index mapping of concentration profiles
Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1990We report an optical microscopy technique for mapping variations in refractive index across an electrode surface that result from non-uniform electrochemical generation of a soluble ...

Size and mercury concentration relationship as contamination index
Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology, 1987The possible relationship which exists between size (as weight or length) and mercury concentration in muscle is used by some authors as evidence of the degree of mercury contamination present in aquatic environments. In this study, the level of mercury contamination present in populations of red crayfish (Procambarus clarkii) and grey mullet (Liza ...

Nonimaging optical concentrators using graded-index dielectric
Applied Optics, 2014A new generation of inhomogeneous nonimaging optical concentrators is proposed, able to achieve simultaneously high optical efficiency and acceptance solid angle at a given geometrical concentration factor. General design methods are given, and concentrators are numerically investigated and optimized.

Relationship between amrinone plasma concentration and cardiac index
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, 1981Amrinone was given to 14 patients with congestive heart failure as an intravenous bolus (1 mg/sec) at doses ranging from 0.5 to 3.5 mg/kg. Simultaneous determinations of cardiac index were made by thermodilution and of amrinone plasma concentration by high-performance liquid chromatography.

Concentration Curves And Concentration Indexes Derived From Them
1990Many synthetic concentration measures are derived from concentration curves. The ordinate of the concentration curves may be utilized as point concentration measure (local concentration). In this paper, after having analysed the behaviour of the concentration curves derived from the Lorenz curve and the behaviour of the Z(p) curve, the formal ...

Estimating the Herfindahl Index from Concentration Ratio Data
Journal of the American Statistical Association, 1985Abstract High concentration ratio (C)—Herfindahl (H) index correlations found in United States studies may be biased upward by using estimated H. For New Zealand data, correlations between C and actual H are lower; the H—C relationship appears to be nonlinear.

Gradient-index lenses as flux concentrators
SPIE Proceedings, 2001While gradient-index lenses are usually analyzed in terms of image fidelity, they are also capable of high flux concentration. In the first part of this presentation, the simplest class of gradient-index problems is revisited. An alterative way to obtain established solution of the refractive index profiles that produce perfect imaging is derived form ...

PM2.5 concentration prediction algorithm integrating traffic congestion index
Journal of Environmental SciencesIn this study, a strategy is proposed to use the congestion index as a new input feature. This approach can reveal more deeply the complex effects of traffic conditions on variations in particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations. To assess the effectiveness of this strategy, we conducted an ablation experiment on the congestion index and implemented a ...
