Is socioeconomic inequality in antenatal care coverage widening or reducing between- and within-socioeconomic groups? A case of 19 countries in sub-Saharan Africa

open access: yesSSM: Population Health, 2023
Maternal health statistics have improved in many countries in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Still, progress remains slow in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) targets.

Socioeconomic inequalities in maternal health service utilisation: a case of antenatal care in Nigeria using a decomposition approach

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2019
Background Antenatal care (ANC) services are critical for maternal health but Nigeria performs poorly in ANC utilisation compared to other countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Compound Poisson point processes, concentration and oracle inequalities

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
This note aims at presenting several new theoretical results for the compound Poisson point process, which follows the work of Zhang et al. (Insur. Math. Econ. 59:325–336, 2014).

CONCENTRATION INEQUALITIES FOR GIBBS MEASURES [PDF]

open access: yesInfinite Dimensional Analysis, Quantum Probability and Related Topics, 2011
We are interested in Sobolev type inequalities and their relationship with concentration properties on higher dimensions. We consider unbounded spin systems on the d-dimensional lattice with interactions that increase slower than a quadratic. At first we assume that the one-site measure satisfies a modified log-Sobolev inequality with a constant ...

Decomposition of socioeconomic inequalities in child vaccination in Ethiopia: results from the 2011 and 2016 demographic and health surveys

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2020
Objectives Monitoring and addressing unnecessary and avoidable differences in child vaccination is a critical global concern. This study aimed to assess socioeconomic inequalities in basic vaccination coverage among children aged 12–23 months in Ethiopia.

Concentration Inequalities for Smooth Random Fields [PDF]

open access: yesTheory of Probability & Its Applications, 2013
In this note we derive a sharp concentration inequality for the supremum of a smooth random field over a finite dimensional set. It is shown that this supremum can be bounded with high probability by the value of the field at some deterministic point plus an intrinsic dimension of the optimisation problem.

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.
