Assessment of Eccentric-Concentric Exercises Applied in Different Resistances in Terms of Strength

open access: yesTürk Spor ve Egzersiz Dergisi, 2022
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of eccentric-concentric exercises applied at different resistances on strength parameters. Thirty-five sedentary volunteers participating in the study were divided into 4 groups by the stratified ...

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Method for making small pointed thermocouples [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Constantan wire worked to a needle point and covered with a copper coating produces a small, concentric, fast-reaction thermocouple that has the fast response time necessary to measure rapid temperature changes accurately and only slightly alters the ...

A Self‐Healing Permanent Magnet Putty for Soft Robot Skins With Force Sensing and Functional Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Permanent magnet putty (PMP) integrates high‐coercivity NdFeB particles with a dynamic polyborosiloxane–Ecoflex matrix, achieving rapid self‐healing (90% mechanical recovery in 10 s) and magnetic recovery within 20 min. With twice the sensitivity of commercial putties, PMP enables precise 5–30 N force detection and discrimination between pressing and ...

Concentric tubes cold-bonded by drawing and internal expansion [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Metal tubes bonded together without heat application or brazing materials retain strength at elevated temperatures, and when subjected to constant or cyclic temperature gradients.

Backpropagation Through Soft Body: Investigating Information Processing in Brain–Body Coupling Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study explores how information processing is distributed between brains and bodies through a codesign approach. Using the “backpropagation through soft body” framework, brain–body coupling agents are developed and analyzed across several tasks in which output is generated through the agents’ physical dynamics.
