Concentration of Product Spaces [PDF]

open access: yesAnalysis and Geometry in Metric Spaces, 2021
Abstract We investigate the relation between the concentration and the product of metric measure spaces. We have the natural question whether, for two concentrating sequences of metric measure spaces, the sequence of their product spaces also concentrates. A partial answer is mentioned in Gromov’s book [4].

Maximal free-space concentration of electromagnetic waves [PDF]

open access: yesActive Photonic Platforms XII, 2020
We derive upper bounds to free-space concentration of electromagnetic waves, mapping out the limits to maximum intensity for any spot size and optical beam-shaping device. For sub-diffraction-limited optical beams, our bounds suggest the possibility for orders-of-magnitude intensity enhancements compared to existing demonstrations, and we use inverse ...

Sparse space–time models: Concentration inequalities and Lasso [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales de l'Institut Henri Poincaré, Probabilités et Statistiques, 2020
Inspired by Kalikow-type decompositions, we introduce a new stochastic model of infinite neuronal networks, for which we establish sharp oracle inequalities for Lasso methods and restricted eigenvalue properties for the associated Gram matrix with high probability. These results hold even if the network is only partially observed.

Stochastic Loewner evolution in multiply connected domains [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We construct radial stochastic Loewner evolution in multiply connected domains, choosing the unit disk with concentric circular slits as a family of standard domains.

Split 2 Housing Developments Planned from 1957 to 1968

open access: yesProstor, 2021
Split 2 is a significant part of urban and architectural heritage in Split and Croatia. This arises from the scope and reach of the rational urban planning and use of space, inventive architectural design focused on construction technologies, operations ...

Spherically symmetric monopoles in noncommutative space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We construct a spherically symmetric noncommutative space in three dimensions by foliating the space with concentric fuzzy spheres. We show how to construct a gauge theory in this space and in particular we derive the noncommutative version of a Yang ...

Concentration analysis in Banach spaces [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Contemporary Mathematics, 2016
The concept of a profile decomposition formalizes concentration compactness arguments on the functional-analytic level, providing a powerful refinement of the Banach–Alaoglu weak-star compactness theorem. We prove existence of profile decompositions for general bounded sequences in uniformly convex Banach spaces equipped with a group of bijective ...

Characterizing Urban Expansion Combining Concentric-Ring and Grid-Based Analysis for Latin American Cities

open access: yesLand, 2021
Spatio-temporal characterization of urban expansion is the first step towards understanding how cities grow in space. We summarize two approaches used in urban expansion measurement, namely, concentric-ring analysis and grid-based analysis.

Sine-limiting microcell solar concentrators for space

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
Microcell concentrating photovoltaics (µCPV) have the potential to improve performance and reduce the cost of solar power in space. Here, we introduce an ultracompact V-cone tailored edge ray (V-TERC) concentrator, rooted in nonimaging optics, which enables operation near the sine limit.
