Conception Rates. 2. Economic Value of Unit Differences In Percentages of Sire Conception Rates

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1994
The objectives of this research were to estimate 1) the annual increase in profitability and 2) the value of a unit of semen because of an increase of 1 in percentage of AI conception rate. Factors contributing to increased annual profit per cow included more milk production, less semen purchased, more calvings, and fewer reproductive cullings.

The Influence of the Interval between Administration of PGF2α, in the Pre-Synchronization Treatments (2xPGF2α), in the Ovsynch Synchronization Program of the Oestrus and the Ovulations in Dairy Cows

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
The results of synchronization of estrus and ovulation by Ovsynch program can be improved if stages of estrous cycles in cows are synchronized, through two administrations of PGF2α, before the administration the first dose of GnRH.

Influence of Terminal Boar Genetic Type on Conception Rate

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies, 2023
The existence of variability between boar genetic types on sows fecundity (measured by the percentage of fertile insemination or percentage of return after insemination) was observed in some studies but is insufficiently experienced and explained.

Estrous Intensity and Conception Rates in Holsteins

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1983
During 34 mo, 732 inseminations were evaluated in Holstein cows and heifers of breeding age. Females were submitted for insemination after detection of either 1) standing estrus, 2) mounting activity, or 3) other subtle symptoms of estrus (clear mucus, general appearance of genitalia or tailhead, and excessive vocalization).

The dependence of the growth rate and meat content of young boars on semen parameters and conception rate

open access: yesAnimal, 2017
Boars have a decisive impact on the progress in pig production, however, there is no recent information about the optimal growth parameters during the rearing period for modern breed later used in artificial insemination (AI) stations.
