From lactation to malignancy: A comparison between healthy and cancerous breast gland at single‐cell resolution reveals new issues for tumorigenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Single‐cell RNA sequencing reveals an opposite role of SLPI in basal tumors based on metastatic spread, along with shared activation of specific regulons in cancer cells and mature luminal lactocytes, as well as downregulation of MALAT1 and NEAT1 in the latter.

A phase 3 randomized, open-label study evaluating the immunogenicity and safety of concomitant and staggered administration of a live, pentavalent rotavirus vaccine and an inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine in healthy infants in China

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics
This open-label, randomized, phase 3 study in China (V260-074; NCT04481191) evaluated the immunogenicity and safety of concomitant and staggered administration of three doses of an oral, live, pentavalent rotavirus vaccine (RV5) and three doses of an ...

Risk of mortality associated with concomitant antidepressant and benzodiazepine therapy among patients with depression: a population-based cohort study

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2020
Background With antidepressants (ADs) having minimal therapeutic effects during the initial weeks of treatment, benzodiazepines (BZDs) are concomitantly used to alleviate depressive symptoms of insomnia or anxiety.

Imeglimin attenuates liver fibrosis by inhibiting vesicular ATP release from hepatic stellate cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Imeglimin, at clinically relevant concentrations, inhibits vesicular ATP accumulation and release from hepatic stellate cells, thereby attenuating purinergic signaling and reducing fibrogenic activation. This mechanism reveals a newly identified antifibrotic action of imeglimin beyond glycemic control.

Concomitant Use of Single Antiplatelet Therapy With Edoxaban or Warfarin in Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: Analysis From the ENGAGE AF‐TIMI48 Trial

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association : Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
We studied the concomitant use of single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) on the efficacy and safety of the anti‐Xa agent edoxaban in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF).

Cancer cell death induced by the NAD antimetabolite Vacor discloses the antitumor potential of SARM1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Vacor, a compound converted into the toxic metabolite Vacor adenine dinucleotide (VAD) by the nicotinamide salvage pathway enzymes NAMPT and NMNAT2, exhibits antitumor activity by inducing rapid and complete NAD depletion. We report that Vacor toxicity is limited to cell lines expressing high levels of SARM1, a NAD glycohydrolase.

Safety and Immunogenicity of Concomitant Administration and Combined Administration of Bivalent BNT162b2 COVID-19 Vaccine and Bivalent RSVpreF Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine with or Without Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine in Adults ≥ 65 Years of Age

open access: yesVaccines
Concomitant administration may improve vaccination rates. This analysis of a phase 1/2 randomized study included 1073 healthy ≥65-year-olds who previously received ≥3 mRNA COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Prevalence of concomitant traumatic cranio-spinal injury: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesNeurosurgical review, 2018
The biomechanical relationship between cranial and spinal structures makes concomitant injury likely. Concomitant cranio-spinal injuries are important to consider following trauma due to the serious consequences of a missed injury.

Protein kinase FAM20C—when subcellular localization matters

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FAM20C is a Golgi‐resident kinase that phosphorylates proteins along the entire secretory pathway. The presence of potential FAM20C substrates in the cytoplasm or nucleus raises the question of how the kinase and its substrates encounter each other. Protein kinases achieve signaling specificity through consensus sequence recognition and subcellular ...
