Concomitants of atherosclerotic carotid artery stenosis.

open access: yes, 1977
To identify metabolic and other concomitants of a single important type of atherosclerotic cerebrovascular disease, 75 patients with angiographically and surgically proven internal carotid stenosis were compared with age and sex matched control subjects ...

Regression analysis using order statistics and their concomitants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this work we derive the exact joint distribution of linear combinations of order statistics and linear combinations of their concomitants and some auxiliary variables in multivariate normal distribution.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

New generalized Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern distributions and concomitants of order statistics

open access: yes
We consider a generalization of the bivariate Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstern (FGM) distribution by introducing additional parameters. For the generalized FGM distribution, the admissible range of the association parameter allowing positive quadrant dependence

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Psychosocial Concomitants of Adolescent Weight Variation

open access: yes, 1986
viii, 137 p.This paper will focus upon the psychosocial concomitants of weight variation among adolescents. Evidence will be sought to test the notion that obese adolescents differ psychosocially from the nonobese and in a direction that suggests that ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Concomitants of Generalized Order Statistics for a Bivariate Weibull Distribution

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we have studied the distribution of r–th concomitant and joint distribution of r–th and s–th concomitant of generalized order statistics for a bivariate Weibull distribution.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
