Mechanical Model for Failure of Compressed Concrete in Reinforced Concrete Beams
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2002According to many code requirements for concrete structures, the stress in the compressed part of reinforced concrete (RC) beams in bending is usually computed by means of uniaxial stress-strain relationships. These approaches sometimes are not able to reproduce the structural response of the beam when crushing of concrete in compression occurs.

Although the geometry of the influence of the load on a beam is identical irrespective of material there is a fundamental difference in the way that a reinforced concrete beam produces the resistance moment. Within very small limits, a plain concrete beam would behave like any other elastic material.

Beams — Concrete and Plasterboard
1990Once having produced a level ceiling, the work of squaring up a beam is made much easier. If the beams are deep, it may be an advantage to work in the sides or cheeks of the beam from the ceiling scaffold, and the bottom or soffit from a scaffold set up at a lower level.

Reinforced concrete repairs in beams
Construction and Building Materials, 1999Abstract The effectiveness of reinforced concrete repairs may be established in terms of their ability to restore the structural integrity of the reinforced concrete element and to protect the reinforcement from severe weathering conditions. Therefore, 18 large scale reinforced concrete beams were cast and subject to an accelerated corrosion ...

A LIMIT MODEL IN THE ANALYSIS OF STEEL-CONCRETE BEAMS
Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 2000The problem of two bodies joined along their common surface by a thin soft third material having a periodic micro-structure has been considered. After identifying the two natural smallness parameters ε (which measures the thickness and the softness of the intermediate body) and η (which is the period of the micro-structure), the limits of the solution ...

Repaired Reinforced Concrete Beams
ACI Materials Journal, 1990The repair of cracks is a necessity, and a comparison between repair methods for reinforced concrete beams subjected to different levels of cracking was made experimentally. Four methods of repair were studied: epoxy injection; ferrocement; steel-plate bonding; and combined method of epoxy injection and ferrocement.

Shear in reinforced concrete beams
Magazine of Concrete Research, 1969Synopsis Generally acceptable compatibility and ultimate strength precepts are used in this paper to establish a physical theory of shear in reinforced concrete. Account is taken of the shear resistances of both un cracked concrete and shear reinforcement.
