Thermal Effects on Box Girder Concrete Bridges
Thermal load, especially vertical temperature gradient, is an important factor that should be considered during the bridge design procedure. In the world, several researches focusing on temperature gradient was made, mostly in USA and China, but only a few analyzed actual temperature gradients measuring at European bridges.

Different Techniques for the Modeling of Concrete Box Girder Bridges

This paper presents a comparison between response of post-tensioned concrete box-girder bridges analyzed by using different modeling techniques. Each type of modeling technique requires a certain set of assumptions to simplify the problem and thus results obtained from these techniques vary according to the assumptions made.

Behaviour and analysis of a reinforced concrete box girder bridge
This study was aimed at investigating the strength and deformational behaviour of a reinforced concrete box girder bridge under symmetrical and unsymmetrical loading conditions. The experimental phase consisted of tests on a 1/2.82 scale, direct model of the intermediate span of a continuous box girder bridge.

Transverse assessment of a concrete box girder bridge
Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers - Bridge Engineering, 2017This paper looks at the beneficial effects of geometric arching from haunches, web continuity and compressive membrane action in the design and assessment of box girder top slabs. The paper initially reviews tests relevant to arching action in box girders and then analyses recent tests on box girder slab strips.

Temperature variation of concrete box girder bridge
Frontiers of Architecture and Civil Engineering in China, 2009On the basis of theoretical analysis and measurement on site, the temperature gradients and its variation on concrete box girder bridges resulting from ambient temperature, solar radiation, and structural temperature fields were discussed. With the help of the heat transfer theory and finite element method (FEM), the heat flux of the surface of ...

The box girder is today the most widely used superstructure in cocnrete bridge construction. The aim of this document is to relieve the engineer of the study of today's hardly surveyable mass of literature on the subject so that he can better devote that time to the actual design of the bridge.
