Optimum design of composite prestressed concrete girder railway bridges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This paper deals with the formulation of design optimisation of pretsressed concrete bridges. The bridge is of a slab-on-girder type, hence modeled as an equivalent orthotropic plate.

Study on the Crack Propagation Behavior and Patterns of High‐Speed Railway Bridges Under High‐Speed Train Loading

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study focuses on simply supported railway box girder bridges with pre‐existing cracks under high‐speed train loading. A vehicle–bridge coupled vibration model is established, and three‐dimensional dynamic stress intensity factors at the crack tip under various loading conditions are obtained using the interaction integral method.

The Effect and Mechanical Mechanism of Intermediate Diaphragms in Prefabricated T‐Beam Bridges

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Current bridge design codes stipulate that prefabricated T‐beam bridges must include intermediate diaphragms, with spacing not exceeding 10 m. However, the construction of these diaphragms entails extensive overhead work, elevated safety risks, and significant challenges in quality control.

Structural Behaviour Of Distressed And Strengthened Post-Tensioned Box Girder Beams [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Box girder prestressed concrete beams are used widely in bridge construction due to its efficient structural response under flexural as well as torsional loading. Prestressing can be either internally or externally applied to a beam.

Reliability Assessment of Simply Supported Beam Bridge Structural Performance Based on Load Tests

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Currently, bridge load tests use the verification coefficient to evaluate the structural performance of bridges in China, but this method is unsuitable. This paper presents a method that utilizes reliability to compare the actual bridge structural performance with the designed performance. Reliability functions for strain and deflection in load testing

Analysis of box girder based on cross-sectional variations [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Box girders are widely utilized in prestressed concrete bridge construction due to their high torsional stiffness and cost-effectiveness. This study analyzes the structural capacity of a prestressed concrete box girder bridge planned to span the Siak ...

Study on Mechanical Behavior of Longitudinal Wet Joints of Prefabricated Assembled Beam

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study investigates the impact of various interface construction techniques on the bending strength of longitudinal wet joints in bridge superstructures through experimentation. A functional relationship between measured bending strength and theoretical shear strength values is established by finite element simulation.

Structure-borne noise of steel and concrete box girders in an urban metro system: A hybrid evaluation and parametric study

open access: yesJournal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, 2023
Metro systems provide an efficient, convenient, and expeditious way to travel around crowded routes. Because these systems are established in cities, residential buildings close to metro viaducts are significantly affected by structure-borne noise (SBN).
