Modelling of continuous low‐temperature emulsion co‐polymerization in 3D‐printed reactor

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
A kinetic model for the emulsion copolymerization of butyl acrylate/styrene at low temperatures is proposed and validated against experiments with a redox initiator system. The model was successfully transferred to a 3D‐printed tubular reactor and conversions of more than 80% and small particles sizes below 40 nm were observed.

The uniaxial compressive strength of concrete: revisited

open access: yesMaterials and Structures
AbstractThis paper re-examines common notions and conventions regarding the compressive strength of concrete in general and of the uniaxial compressive strength of concrete in particular. A distinction is introduced between the strength of the specimen and the strength of the concrete as a material, and the commonly measured and adopted strength is ...

The Flexural and Compressive Strength of Recycled Concrete

open access: yesAsia Proceedings of Social Sciences, 2018
Limitations in natural resources have drawn the necessity to develop sustainable solutions for the future of the concrete industry. Kuwait has joined the world’s effort to encourage recycling by reducing the amounts of construction and demolition wastes sent to landfills, through the usage of recycled aggregates in Portland Cement concrete mixes.
