Influence of Inertia on the Dynamic Compressive Strength of Concrete

open access: yesMaterials, 2022
The rate sensitivity of concrete material is closely related to the inertia and viscous effects. However, the effect of inertia on the dynamic strength of concrete remains unclear. In this paper, digital image correlation technology was applied to study the strain variation of dry and saturated concrete with different loading rates.

SIZE EFFECT IN COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE

open access: yesTransactions of the Architectural Institute of Japan, 1977
Abstract Three series of experiments were carried out to examine the effect of the size and type of aggregate on the size effect in the compressive strength of concrete from the standpoint that it may result from the geometrical heterogeneity of concrete system.

Compressive Strength of Concrete Containing Milled Glass as Partial Substitute for Cement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work reports the outcome of an experiment carried out by using milled glass (MG) of varying percentages (20%, 40% and 60% by weight)of cement in concrete making. MG was sourced for and milled to required fineness.

Compressive Strength of Volcanic Ash/Ordinary Portland Cement Laterized Concrete [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This study investigates the effect of partial replacement of cement with volcanic ash (VA) on the compressive strength of laterized concrete. A total of 192 cubes of 150mm dimensions were cast and cured in water for 7, 14, 21, and 28 days of hydration ...

USES OF DRY VINASSE AS A FRIENDLY ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIAL TO IMPROVE PROPERTIES OF CEMENT MORTAR AND CONCRETE [PDF]

open access: yesJES: Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2020
This study aims at using the sugar by-product (dry vinasse), as one of the concrete production requirements, instead of getting rid of them in vain. Dry vinasse was obtained by drying liquid vinasse at 250 ° C.

Relationship between compressive and tensile strengths of roller-compacted concrete

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online), 2018
The abstract roller-compacted concrete (RCC) is a zero slump concrete comprising the same materials as that of conventional concrete with different proportions. The RCC must be compacted to reach its final form.
