Heterogeneity of Intratumoral Microbiota Within the Tumor Microenvironment and Relationship to Tumor Development

open access: yesMed Research, Volume 1, Issue 1, Page 32-61, June 2025.
Mutual shaping of tumor microbiota and TME. Intratumoral microbiota—comprising diverse bacteria, fungi, viruses, and intracellular organisms—play critical and dynamic roles in shaping the tumor microenvironment (TME). Their spatial and compositional diversity contributes to both intratumoral and intertumoral heterogeneity, influencing immune modulation

Dosimetric impact of positional uncertainties and a robust optimization approach for rectal intensity‐modulated brachytherapy

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 52, Issue 6, Page 3528-3540, June 2025.
Abstract Background Intensity‐modulated brachytherapy (IMBT) employs rotating high‐Z shields during treatment to decrease radiation in certain directions and conform the dose distribution to the target volume. Prototypes for dynamic IMBT have been proposed for prostate, cervical, and rectal cancer.

Central Airway Invasion of Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma Causing Bronchomediastinal Fistula and Mediastinitis

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2025.
We present a rare case of mediastinitis caused by a bronchomediastinal fistula due to the aggressive locoregional recurrence of a lung squamous cell carcinoma involving the central airway. Despite initial tumour regression following chemoradiotherapy and durvalumab, rapid regrowth led to airway penetration and mediastinal infection.

Circulating genomic biomarkers predict chemoradiotherapy resistance and immunotherapy response in locally advanced non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 6, Issue 3, June 2025.
The insufficient sensitivity of single circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA)‐molecular residual disease (MRD) prediction remains unresolved and hinders the clinical implementation of ctDNA. Through prospective cohort study, independent validations, and mechanism exploration from peripheral blood and tumor tissue, we demonstrate that ctDNA‐based STK11/KEAP1 ...

Late‐Onset Crizotinib‐Associated Renal Cysts With Subsequent Regression Following Dose Reduction: A Case Report

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 16, Issue 12, June 2025.
Renal cysts developed 4 years after starting crizotinib, representing a rare case of late‐onset Crizotinib Associated Renal Cysts (CARCs). Crizotinib dose reduction led to complete cyst regression without compromising tumor control. ABSTRACT Crizotinib, an anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)/ROS1/c‐MET inhibitor, improves outcomes in ALK‐positive non ...
